Yoga does not guarantee a perfect life, but it gives us the resources to face life’s challenges with equanimity.

About the Teacher

I’ve been teaching yoga in Salisbury since I moved here in 2000. I fell in love with yoga in my teens and qualified to teach in 1997 with the Iyengar Yoga Association which gave me a wonderful foundation in teaching yoga to people of any age and level of fitness. I completed a foundation in Yoga Therapy with the Yoga Biomedical Trust where I developed a particular interest in how yoga can help with back pain and I am now a registered teacher with Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs.

My former post as Director of Spirituality Programmes at Sarum College increased my curiosity about the meditative aspects of yoga and led me first to Uma and Nirlipta Tuli and then to the Satyananda School of Yoga in London where I trained to teach Yoga Nidra and Meditation with Swami Pragyamurti and Brahmananda. I am grateful to them all for their insights and the beautiful practices they taught me.

My first degree was in Philosophy but in those days the curriculum was entirely drawn from the West. Having enjoyed several short courses in Indian Philosophy with the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, I went back to university and, in 2016, completed an MA in Traditions of Yoga and Meditation at SOAS University, London. I am still enjoying exploring the rich traditions and texts of the yoga tradition.

I love teaching and sharing the many benefits of yoga with others. I offer a range of classes in Salisbury which cover all aspects of yoga – physical postures, breathwork, relaxation, meditation and philosophy. Do get in touch if you’d like to try a class. I’m always happy to discuss what kind of class will best meet your needs.
